Matilda Nominated at The Banchet Awards

We are excited to share that our project, Matilda, has been nominated for Best Design at the The Banchet Awards, one of the most recognized awards celebrating excellence in Chicago’s restaurant and hospitality industry.

The Banchet Awards honor outstanding achievements across culinary arts, hospitality, and restaurant design, recognizing projects that contribute meaningfully to the dining experience and the cultural landscape of the city. To be acknowledged among such respected talent is an incredible honor for our studio and our collaborators.

Matilda was envisioned as more than a restaurant — it was designed as an immersive and emotionally layered experience inspired by warmth, hospitality, memory, and the cultural intersection between Mexico and Peru. Rather than relying on literal references, the project focused on creating an atmosphere that feels intimate, lived-in, and emotionally connected through materiality, lighting, texture, and spatial perception.

This nomination represents an important recognition of our approach to hospitality design: creating spaces that prioritize emotion, atmosphere, and human connection as much as aesthetics. Seeing Matilda recognized within Chicago’s design and culinary community is especially meaningful because it reflects the collaborative spirit behind the project and the impact thoughtful design can have on how people experience a space.

We are deeply grateful to be included among this year’s nominees and proud to see Matilda continue resonating within the industry.
